Greenwood Primary School board member John Logan said the bin stickers were available from councils on residents requests through the RoadWise program launched in 2003.
But he said schools could help promote the stickers to the school community through their newsletters.
Greenwood PS principal Peter Mulcahy said an effective road safety message was vital to the school community.
We need the likes of kerbside stickers to be prominently displayed around our schools boundaries, he said.
The more the message is getting out there to the public to take care of our children the better for everyone.
