No walk in the park for courageous charity campaigner

Irene decided to take part in The Weekend to End Women’s Cancers, inspired by her mother who survived an aggressive form of breast cancer.

Sadly her mother’s three sisters lost their battle with cancer, as did Irene’s father.

‘Enough is enough ” cancer has taken so many special people from special people’s lives and this is seriously enough,’ Irene said.

‘That’s when I decided I have to do something, even if it’s just a drop in the ocean.’

The Horn family moved to Darch from Pretoria in South Africa in 2010.

Irene has raised $1425 towards her $2000 goal and is walking 10km to 15km every day.

‘Our challenges are small, so as soon as I think, ‘oh my goodness this humungous blister I won’t be able to do this’, then I think, there’s people battling this disease and they just keep on keeping on. That’s my focus, I’ll keep on, blister or no blister.’
