Lucy JarvisWanneroo Times

FIVE of six nominees for the City of Wanneroo’s environmental advisory committee received council endorsement recently.

The council supported a staff recommendation to appoint five people to the committee at its November 14 meeting.

The members include Friends of Yellagonga chairman Kevin McLeod, of Kallaroo, who has been involved in the committee since 2009 and organises turtle monitoring programs in Yellagonga Regional Park.

Wanneroo resident Rob Phillips, Mariginiup’s Kadambii Barnao and Renata Zelinova, of Mindarie, have all been reappointed, having served on the committee since 2015.

Newcomer Anita Marriott volunteers with Earth Carers and has practiced as a veterinarian and trainee horticulturalist.

As five is the committee’s maximum number of community representatives, the council did not reappoint Ballajura resident John Kelly but thanked him for serving on it from 2005 to 2017.

The committee also has three councillors as delegates – Nat Sangalli, Sonet Coetzee and Domenic Zappa, with Lewis Flood a deputy delegate.
