Northern suburbs artists to speak at Year 12 Perspectives exhibition

Former St Stephen’s School Duncraig student Amy Reid and Eden Leicester, who attended St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School last year, have had their artwork selected in the Year 12 Perspectives exhibition.

They will each participate in free artist talks at the gallery hosted by associate curator Dunja Rmandic, with Amy appearing on March 11 and Eden on April 2.

Banksia Grove resident Lea Baluyot has won the exhibition’s Packers’ Prize for her work created while at Balga Senior High School.

She said Time is Gold was inspired by the symbolic meaning of objects used in vanitas paintings of 16th and 17th centuries Flanders and the Netherlands. The book represented learning and the soft drink can signified fast food.

The exhibition runs until April 2.
