A NORTHERN suburbs family was the first to collect its share from a division one winning ticket from the weekend’s $30 million Megadraw.

The six members of the winning 10-share syndicate won $200,762 each.

The family said they were spending their Christmas vouchers at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City when they decided to pick up their weekly lotto tickets from The Lucky Charm Joondalup.

“Christmas cheer was still in the air so we were hoping for something magical when we bought the ticket and it’s happened,” a family spokesman said.

He said the win would provide financial security and pay for their children’s education.

“I’ll be going back to work in a very good mood; I’m absolutely delighted,” he said.

A Meadow Springs couple have also claimed their share, while the remaining four are still yet to be claimed along with two division one winning tickets worth $2 million each.

They were bought from South Terrace Newsagency in Fremantle and Warricks Newsagency in Northam.

– Ticket sales from the Megadraw helped Lotterywest to raise almost $6 million.

The WA Motor Industry Foundation based in Joondalup received an $85,450 Lotterywest grant last month, which helped to make vehicles modifications to support families with members who have disability and require transport to health and medical services.

– The first Powerball draw of the year will offer players the chance to win $70 million this Thursday.

It is the equal second largest jackpot in the game’s history and comes because no one across the county has matched the six winning numbers plus the Powerball for the past seven weeks.

Players have until 6pm Thursday to buy tickets for the draw.
