The guided missile frigate has recently taken part in the Australia-US exercise Talisman Saber in the Coral Sea.

As part of Fremantle Ports Maritime Day free expo, the navy is planning several outdoor displays, including underwater rescue system the LR5 submersible, which is designed for retrieving sailors from stranded submarines.

Free harbour rides, courtesy of Challenger Institute of Technology, will also be on offer or for a gold-coin donation per family, expo visitors can tour the harbour on Rottnest Express’s Eco Express boat. They can also tour a tug and Fremantle Ports’ emergency response boat.

B Shed on Victoria Quay will have a photographic exhibition and 40 information booths, with maritime industry people on hand to talk about maritime education and careers.

Attractions for children include art activities with well-known Fremantle artist Angela Rossen, dress-ups, balloon twisting and face painting.
