It was recognition for the 72-year-old for his volunteering on board the Leeuwin II as a watch leader on its seven-day youth voyages.
Peter has sailed with Leeuwin mentoring young West Australians for more than five years and has volunteered his time on eight seven-day voyages since January.
Each year since 2001, the association has awarded personal achievement medallions to each operating member, recognising people who have shown outstanding personal achievement either on board or in support of the organisation’s vessel.
STS Leeuwin II Captain Sarah Robinson joined Leeuwin chief executive Anne-Marie Archer to present the medallion.
‘Everyone who sails with Peter on Leeuwin benefits from his vast experience that he is so willing to share onboard,’ Captain Robinson said.
‘His patience, kindness, knowledge, skills and dedication to our young trainees are an absolute asset’
