Pair have lucky escape in storms

Liam Morrison, the owner of the rental home, said the tenant and his brother heard a flapping sound they thought was the garbage bin moving in the wind.

After venturing outside, the tenant saw the tree coming down and told his brother to get out just as a tree branch pierced the ceiling 2m from where they had been sitting.

‘I estimate the cost to be at between $20,000 and $30, 000,’ Mr Morrison said.
