Park on path of success

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

About 15 residents attended a community sausage sizzle at the Girrawheen park earlier this month to view the draft concept plan and make comments to Wanneroo City officers.

Residents liked the ‘creative and unusual aspect of the snakes and ladders path’ and felt it would ‘encourage families to spend time outside and enjoy outdoor leisure pursuits’. Another resident was concerned the upgrade could be a target for anti social behaviour.

The park design is a pioneer project for an entirely unirrigated park with water usage limited to the establishment of planting areas and trees only.

Once established the water would be turned down and then off ” native species would be selected to cope with these conditions.
