SECTIONS of the Mitchell Freeway will close as part of Main Roads’ new approach to maintenance works.

Southbound lanes between Hodges Drive and Whitfords Avenue and the Ocean Reef Road on-ramp will be inaccessible on Sunday night, October 22 from 7pm to 4am, followed by Whitfords Avenue to Warwick Road lanes and Hepburn Avenue access on Monday night October 23 from 8pm to 4am.

Warwick to Karrinyup roads and the Reid Highway and Erindale Road on-ramps will be shut to traffic on Tuesday night October 24 from 9pm to 4am and Karrinyup Road to Hutton Street and the Cedric Street on-ramp are closed on Wednesday night October 25 from 10pm to 4am.

Main Roads WA spokesman Dean Roberts said full freeway closures was its new approach to conducting routine maintenance including pruning, drainage, streetlight, litter collection, sweeping and line marking works.

“Undertaking works over four consecutive nights will minimise the overall disturbances to nearby residents and road users, as well as creating a safer working environment for all personnel on site,” he said.

“Previously, each individual work activity would have been conducted under lane closures on different nights, meaning nearby residents and road users would experience disturbances over many nights.”

Signed detours will be in place during the closures.
