The Duke Bar and Bistro hosted the February 28 event to mark the feast day of the patron saint of Wales, which falls on March 1 every year.

“The expats of Wales were literally in tears when the Perth Male Voice Choir sang; it was quite beautiful,” marketing manager Belinda Cheung said.

“Men and women of all ages became nostalgic and continued to sing when the choir performance ended.

“There aren’t many places to celebrate such a day in Perth so we were honoured that we could do this for the people of Wales.

“We run into a few bumps trying to get some Wales beer in so for next year, our customers want to start a petition to have it shipped to Perth.

“We also had Stu McKay performing live and he changed his usual repertoire to learn a few songs by popular Welsh artists.”

The bar’s next event on March 17 will be for the Irish on St Patrick’s Day, with entertainment including a traditional Irish dance lesson, live music and face painting.
