Plenty of fun in the sun at festival

Organiser Bill McClelland said as in previous years, there were plenty of visitors to the Banksia Grove fun day.

However, people left earlier because of the afternoon heat.

‘We had close to 50 outlets providing all sorts of goods and services, various entertainers on stage and plenty of fun and giveaways for the youngsters,’ he said.

‘The inaugural billy cart race was a crowd pleaser and the eight entrants put a lot of effort into manufacture and decoration of their machines. ‘By popular demand, we plan to hold the event next year with a view to making it an annual attraction.’ Festival proceeds have benefitted almost 40 community groups since 2008.
