Police were yesterday investigating the possibility of a murder suicide, having confirmed there was no third party involved in the deaths of the 78-year-old man and 71-year-old woman.
It was a rainy and solemn scene surrounding Chadwin Place, with bystanders seen to be comforting each other as they answered police questions.
A road block was formed at the entrance to the suburban street, after emergency services were called to the property about 3.45pm.
There were reports neighbours heard gunshots.
Superintendent Carver reassured residents it was an isolated incident.
‘We established pretty well straight away that it was (contained) inside the house,’ he said.
‘The two people were related and that’s basically where it |finishes.’
He said major crime investigators were working with local detectives to establish exactly what had happened.
‘Obviously any death is not good,’ he said.
