Western Power and the Wanneroo Joondalup State Emergency Service assisted residents during hailstorm

THE power network in the northern suburbs 'held up very well' after about 300 residents in the district lost power in Saturday's storms.

A Western Power spokeswoman said most cases were isolated to single dwellings with the biggest group outage being in Greenwood.

The Wanneroo Joondalup State Emergency Service unit duty team manager Ken Dewhirst said they received 68 call-outs over Saturday and Sunday.

‘We had assistance from the Belmont and Swan district SES teams who came out to help,’ Mr Dewhirst said.

‘Main damage was from hail through skylights, roofs and excessive flooding and overflowing gutters.’

He said several ceilings also collapsed from the weight of the water and a tree had fallen on a house in Pearsall.
