City of Wanneroo residents on the move

More than 8000 people have already signed up to the personalised program that encourages people to become more active, healthy and connected.

Already a keen walker, Butler resident Karen Bowers decided to take it a step further and signed up to the six-month program.

“I’m a bookkeeper, so I’m sitting all day, so it’s good to get up and get moving,” she said. “Your Move makes you think about being active.

“I’d love to join some kind of walking group and do some walking on weekends along the coastal areas and bush with other people.

“I’ll walk from my house to the train station, catch it to Perth and then walk to East Perth.

“It’s enforced exercise which makes you walk.

“The environment is not my first concern, but it is a considerable factor and you do think about it.”

Your Move is a joint program by the departments of Transport and Sport and Recreation, supported by the City and RAC.

It is delivered with help from the Public Transport Authority, HBF, North Metropolitan Public Health Service, Heart Foundation, Nature Play WA and Diabetes WA.
