Proud history honoured at East Wanneroo Primary School’s 40th anniversary

They held a special assembly with past staff and students as part of the November 20 celebrations.

Deputy principal Joanne Tester said the students also had a great time participating in a tabloid sport activity on the oval.

“The whole-school assembly was a huge success – we had performances from our Taiko drumming group, ukulele group, EduDance and our school choir,” she said.

“The assembly was attended by many past students and staff members, including the original principal, Kevin Ivanac, and the original deputy principal, Phil Ridden.

“A special anniversary cake was donated by one of our parents, Sarah Brigden from Babycakes.”

She said the school was then opened up for visitors to take a trip down memory lane.

“Visual displays of the decades provided the opportunity to reminisce about the past days at East Wanneroo,” she said.

“The celebration day continued into the evening with a whole-school picnic featuring the Southern Cross Bush Band, attended by over 200 people.

“The celebration day gave us a chance to reflect on the many successes of our school over the past 40 years.”
