Python found in raid at Girrawheen property

A PYTHON was seized along with drugs when the Tactical Response Group raided a heavily fortified Girrawheen property earlier this month.

Officers searched the Marangaroo Drive premises on October 8, which had raised suspicion with all the blinds drawn.

They allege a 29-year-old male was in possession of ecstasy, cocaine, steroids and dexamphetamine.

Investigators also seized a large amount of cash, unlicensed ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Joondalup Senior Sergeant Brad Burnett said Department of Parks and Wildlife officers were called to seize the python.

“They will conduct an investigation. He can be charged for not having the appropriate (wildlife) licence,” he said.

The man was charged with four counts of possessing a prohibited drug for each of the drugs seized.

Police also charged him with possessing unlicensed ammunition, possessing drug paraphernalia and two counts of possessing unlawfully obtained property. He is due to face Joondalup Magistrates Court on October 30.
