The 17-year-old male driver was clocked doing 106km/h in the 50km/h zone and charged with reckless driving, police said.
Trent Snow started a petition for the installation of footpaths on both sides of Ashley Road and Waldburg Drive this week. He said the streets, used by children to access Springhill Primary School’s oval and play equipment, was notorious for speeding.
‘We would like the City of Wanneroo to install or extend footpaths down the other side of both of these roads to ensure a safer journey for children and other pedestrians,’ he said.
The accused driver’s Toyota Yaris has been impounded for 28 days.
