Salitage Park to commemorate Pearsall market gardens

CITRUS trees, a playground and fitness equipment form part of the Salitage Park development in Pearsall.

The City of Wanneroo has awarded the $300,000 tender to construct the project to Phase Three Landscape Construction.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said the park would be of great benefit to residents and honour the City’s history.

“Salitage Park will be a space that promotes healthy outdoor activities for all ages, with a playground, fitness equipment, park furniture, path network, landscaping and grassed areas,” she said.

“My favourite feature, however, is the orchard of citrus trees that commemorate the existence of market gardens in the area prior to residential development.”

The City will carry over nearly $184,000 from the 2015-16 capital works budget and listed $90,000 in its next budget for the project.

Construction of the park is expected to be completed late this year.
