STUDENTS at secondary schools within the City of Wanneroo can apply for financial help with their education.
The City of Wanneroo and Young Australia League (YAL) are offering a $3000 scholarship to full-time students in years 10 to 12 next year.
Mayor Tracey Roberts said it would help students who had experienced challenges in their lives but continued to work hard to overcome them.

READ NOW“The City and YAL secondary scholarship aims to recognise and reward students who have shown enthusiasm for pursuing education and career development when faced with financial or situational barriers,” she said.
“The scholarship can cover student and tuition fees, books, reference materials, accommodation or any other expenditure necessary to help students conquer barriers which could otherwise prevent them from reaching their potential.”
Last year’s recipient Joseph Carlos, of Marangaroo, said the scholarship helped with his school fees and education material.
The Kingsway Christian College student, whose father died in 2011, said it was an “honour” to earn the prize.
Applications can be made at www.yal.org.au until September 15.
