Principal Stephen Spice said the project would transform the front of the school.
‘Our new classroom block will be a designated learning and play area for our Year 7 students while they adapt to secondary school life,’ he said.
The project will include a classroom block, inclusive education classroom, science laboratory, visual arts room, drama and dance room, staff study area and a new car park for staff and parents.
Mr Spice recently distributed a flyer about the construction after residents expressed concern over removal of nearby bushland.
‘All in all, the feedback regarding the construction has been overwhelmingly positive and I look forward to welcoming Year 7 students into our new school grounds in 2015.’
Duncraig SHS will also have a new administration building, with entry and front to the school from Sullivan Street.
