Pupils, parents and staff held free dress and cupcake days and a sausage sizzle, inspiring parents and friends to join the ride, which benefits the WA Institute for Medical Research.
‘Unfortunately we don’t have to speak to many people to meet someone who either knows someone close to them battling cancer or maybe even battling the disease themselves,’ he said.
Mr Schmidt, who plans to join the 2014 ride, said taking part was his way of ‘getting involved in a positive way’.
