TO celebrate its recent 10th anniversary, Wanneroo Primary School class blocks were officially named after historic families who settled in the area.
Principal Amanda Kelley said the event included afternoon tea and a special assembly which gave a historical account of all the families and how they came to Wanneroo.
She said Year 3 students had researched the area’s history and those who had settled there.
“There were a number of Italian families that came to Wanneroo to start a new life and run farms and businesses,” she said.
“The students and teachers decided to nominate six family names to be placed on the classroom blocks; they were endorsed by the school board.”
The family names for the blocks are Faranda, Conti, Villanova, Sinagra, Crisafulli and Ariti.
All families were invited to attend the opening along with past principals, staff and students.
