Principal Amanda Kelley said the event included afternoon tea and a special assembly which gave a historical account of all the families and how they came to Wanneroo.

She said Year 3 students had researched the area’s history and those who had settled there.

“There were a number of Italian families that came to Wanneroo to start a new life and run farms and businesses,” she said.

“The students and teachers decided to nominate six family names to be placed on the classroom blocks; they were endorsed by the school board.”
