Tenders for stage one, worth about $58 million, close this month, with the contract to be awarded in September.

The school will be built on a 10ha site on Splendens Avenue in Banksia Grove.

Stage one will accommodate 850 years 7 and 8 students and will include 18 classrooms, a science area with nine laboratories, an arts learning area, sports hall, cafeteria, oval and multipurpose courts.

Education Minister Peter Collier said the school was scheduled to open in time for the 2015 school year.

‘This new secondary school is being built according to the latest design principles and will feature air-cooling, interactive whiteboards and state-of-the-art technology,’ he said.

The school has been designed by T&Z Architects.
