Security software: Survey on problems

The results could help educators and software designers guide computer users make better security decisions.

‘I believe everyone should be able to protect their personal information, considering how involved and consumed we are with using the internet,’ Mr El-abed said.

‘However, security software is a complex and difficult instrument to manage for novice users. The main outcome for this research is to highlight the usability problems associated with the prompts and notifications generated by internet security software.’

He said his goal is to make sure computer users, who before had trouble using their security software, are able to make full use of internet security, better protecting themselves and others.
