Mr Walton said 92.9 breakfast radio hosts Heidi, Will and Woody wanted to hold the free workshop following recent media coverage of violent incidents against women in Australia.

More than 250 women attended the event at Loftus Recreation Centre where Mr Walton, who owns M1FC, took the participants through basic awareness and avoidance strategies for staying safe.

He also taught self-defence techniques to escape an attack and finished with live scenarios.
