Mr Monk won the Food and Beverages Services Award for his work as banquets manager at Joondalup Resort, where he has worked for the past eight years.

‘I’ve been in the industry 35 years, so it’s good to be recognised for still keeping up with the industry trends,’ he said.

Mr Monk said he was proud of the northern suburbs resort for being recognised among the best in the industry, especially against city hotels, and also paid tribute to his colleagues.

‘I wouldn’t be where I am unless I had such an amazing team,’ he said.
