Philomena Masters will auction more than 100 decorated ducks in a charity fundraiser.

The Decorate a Duck for Depression auction features an array of ducks created by well-known artists, hobbyists and some first-time creators from around Perth.

Ms Masters was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder 17 years ago and was introduced to mosaics by an art therapist.

‘I had never done anything artistic before in my life, but as the door closed on my professional career of more than 20 years, a new door opened to the world of art,’ she said.

Ms Masters will donate all proceeds of the auction to the Claassen Institute of Psychiatry for Medical Students.

‘By supporting this cause, people will be helping patients in our state with mental health issues into the future,’ she said.

The Decorate a Duck for Depression auction will be held at 1.45pm on Sunday, June 1, at Houghton Winery in the Swan Valley.

Ducks can be viewed online at www.mosaicandglass.com.au and absentee bids can be made by calling 0411 841 945.
