Showcase Australian Dance Championships: Wanneroo competitors look to next challenge

Staff WriterWanneroo Times

Dance teacher Fiona Scott will be hoping her Wanneroo-based pupils can again hold their own against the best in the country when qualifying rounds for the Showcase Dance Championships – the biggest event of its kind in Australia – begin in October.

Five entrants aged 11 to 13 took the trip to the Gold Coast for the most recent finals in January where they performed at Jupiters Casino against Australian and New Zealand rivals.

Ms Scott was proud of her students’ efforts, admitting she expected it would be a learning experience rather than a winning one.

But it turned out to be both.
