A surveyor will now provide an accurate market estimate for construction drawings, technical specifications and potential contingency risks associated with the revised scope of the project.
The City had budgeted $600,000 for the Wanneroo Wheeled Sports Facility to be built on Ariti Avenue, which included transition (radius 1.2m, height 0.9m) with gap to bank, an enclosed bowl, a cantilevered skate bank 1200mm high, a skate terrace and ledges.
A council report said an offer from Convic, which was deemed credible and compliant, included the fixed lump sum cost of $875,000.
At a June 16 briefing, infrastructure acting director Harminder Singh told councillors the City needed to work out where the differences were because the price was much higher than the estimated cost.
He said the City would also begin negotiations with Lotterywest about a $200,000 grant for the project.
A report will go back before the council to include the revised, independently scrutinised budget figure.
