Since starting the program, which involves completing a Certificate 1 in leadership development and restoring bikes, upper school students have "rescued" several bikes and donated two back to the community.

The centre has established a bike rescue team that visits other support centres.

Principal Carol Clarke said it was a wonderful opportunity for the students.

"It is also a chance for our students to establish friendships with other students outside of their own school, further developing essential communication and social skills," she said.
