Wangara-based Creative Catering received the accolade at the 2014 Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence.
‘It was absolutely amazing,’ Mr Ferreo said.
‘We started our own company to offer quality services at affordable prices and be able to do something new every day.’
The former chefs established Creative Catering four years ago, covering chef and waiter duties themselves, but the business has grown to encompass five full-time chefs and more than 30 casuals.
Mr Ferreo attributed some of their success to the high-quality produce used, with most vegetables and herbs sourced from their garden.
‘It’s guaranteed fresh because we pick it from our own garden,’ he said.
‘We also have 12 chickens, so we get 12 eggs per day.’
Mr and Mrs Ferreo will head to Melbourne to vie for the national award on October 27 and Mr Ferreo is confident they’ll return triumphant.
‘It’s going to be a lot of fun and when we win, even better,’ he said.
