Snug as a bug in a rug

Quilters from a Joondalup-based class were one of several groups to create 50 Christmas-themed blankets that they donated to Joondalup Health Campus’ special care nursery for newborns.

Hillarys resident Bev Ridgway has been a part of the group for three years and said it was “absolutely brilliant” to be involved in the project.

“Particularly with premature babies, the parents can take some comfort in knowing the quilts belong to them,” she said.

The students, the youngest aged 11, spent two months creating the quilts led by teacher Liz Burrowes.

“It’s amazing how different they all turned out to be,” Ms Ridgway said. “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the project especially knowing that they were being given to the babies in the hospital.”
