AN ice-skating festival will christen the $2 million amphitheatre at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk this winter.

Frostival will coincide with the July school holidays and stay open into the night at Perth’s latest entertainment venue.

More events are planned to follow, including the Below Zero Winter Festival, concerts, family shows, community activities and industry exhibitions.

WA concept promoter The Event Agency has produced several ice-rinks in Perth and is looking forward to the Hillarys Boat Harbour rink.

“We’ve wanted to bring ice-skating to the northern suburbs for quite some time now and we’re truly excited to have an ice rink floating above the ocean in such a beautiful and unique location,” managing director Nikki Graski said.

“We look forward to having falling snow over the rink, magical lighting and fun tunes to keep you outdoors during a month that we usually stay locked up inside.

Frostival, from July 1, starts the Floating Winter Series at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk for the first two and a half weeks.

The Below Zero Winter Festival will run from late July to early August, and include a performance tent for free and ticketed performances.
