Star goes public with advice

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

The 16-time race winner found himself behind the wheel of a Transperth bus on a hot lap of the course ahead of the Perth 400 this weekend.

Davison, who drove the bus to promote taking public transport to the event, had never driven a bus on a racetrack before.

‘This was a unique experience to drive something so heavy,’ he said.

‘I tried to drive it at a leisurely pace ” it’s pretty harsh on suspension and I managed to clip a couple of kerbs.’

Organisers are encouraging racing fans to take public transport to the event on Saturday and Sunday. Ticket holders can ride the train for free to Clarkson station, where a shuttle bus will take them to the track.

There will be limited parking at Wattle Avenue and Old Yanchep Road. Free shuttle services will be available.
