State funds for cycle plan

The WA Bicycle Network Grants program will help fund 22.5 kilometres of bike paths across 32 local governments.

The development of the new Wanneroo City plan would include a review of the current 2008 plan, a review of national, state and local policies and community and stakeholder consultation.

The plan would identify the need for larger links or routes to be included in the plan and improve access to activity centres, major public transport stations, safe routes to schools, crossing points and end of trip facilities.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said out of the 53 funded projects, 14 were near schools.
