Students blossoming with mentor program

The statewide competition for mentored students ran in conjunction with National Youth Mentoring Week held October 21 to 27.

Tracy Vu, who meets with mentor Beth Allen for one hour a week for reading, drawing or art and craft, won first prize for art in Years 5-8, while Tayler Simpson received first prize for her written work in years 1-4.

The School Volunteer Program also held its second annual Mentor Summit as part of National Children’s Week.

It featured youth motivational speaker and mentor Amy Coombe and trainers from Clan WA, Youth Focus and School Drug Education and Road Aware.
