KOONDOOLA’S Mercy College recently gave $4500 raised through a cookie dough drive, along with clothing, to the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Students collected more than 60 bags of clothes to donate to the charity.

Mercy College has a Vinnies youth group made up of secondary students who meet weekly and work to help people in the community who have fallen on hard times.

Students know the help they give goes straight to the people who really need it.

“We love Vinnies Winter Appeal because you are not just giving money, you’re giving hope,” Year 8 student Belynda Young said.

Travis Kikalis, also a Year 8 student, said in term four their focus would be on the Vinnies Christmas hampers.

“All families deserve a wonderful Christmas; this is a big deal at Mercy College,” he said.
