JOONDALUP photographer Josh Tucker used a drone to capture these pictures of a prescribed burn in Wanneroo yesterday.

Crews from the City of Wanneroo Fire Services, Department of Parks and Wildlife and Joondalup Fire and Rescue Service spent Wednesday at Yellagonga Regional Park near Ashley Road.

“The area had not been burnt in some places for many years, posing a risk to community safety and the rest of the regional park,” a Wanneroo Central Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Facebook post said.

DPAW patrolled the burn overnight and crews were continuing the mop up today.

Other prescribed burns have been taking place 16km east-north-east of Two Rocks and 4km east of Yanchep this week.

The burns aim to minimise the impact of bushfires and DPAW encourages people to take precautions if smoke affects their health or visibility for motorists in the area.
