About 73 people from various groups turned out to knit, share lunch and hear from Mission Australia, Department for Children Protection (DCP) and Whitford Church speakers about homelessness.
‘Our knit-in was the first of many to come and we were delighted with the response,’ Super Tuesday co-ordinator Glen Vawser said.
‘All the speakers were amazing but the highlight of the day was our final count of blankets knitted and donated to Mission Australia.
‘These will keep a lot of homeless people very warm during these cold winter nights.’
Super Tuesday members, who make quilts for children in foster care during their weekly sessions, presented a pile of knits to DCP representative Sharon Leach.
