Members met in September during Stroke Awareness Week to knit and create satin poppies that will be sent to Albany and Melbourne and returned to Wanneroo for the 100th celebration of Anzac Day.

Group secretary Sally Allen said the poppy project was a chance for members to give back.

‘We have a target of 500 to donate and I know that the dedicated members will exceed this amount,’ Ms Allen said.

‘We are going to take a three-day respite break at El Caballo Resort on October 13 to 15 and will hopefully make hundreds of satin poppies and about 100 knitted poppies for the City of Wanneroo. The knitting or crafting of the poppies is open to anyone whom wishes to contribute.’
