Talented musicians shine at comp

The 16-year-old, who hopes to pursue a career in musical theatre, has been performing since she was seven years old and recently toured the US with her school jazz band.

As winner of the competition for local musicians aged 12 to 18, Amber won a performance slot at a City of Joondalup event in 2015, 10 hours in a recording studio, a $500 Joondalup Music voucher and an X-Press Magazine prize pack.

Estranged took second prize including five hours in a recording studio, promotional photo shoot and a $300 Joondalup Music voucher, while third placed Silent Shock won a $200 voucher. Other finalists included Lily Morgan, Briony Roberts and Trade Mark.

Performers were judged on their musicianship, professionalism, originality, stage presence and entertainment value.

‘The judges had a hard time picking a winner with all six acts involved in the competition final of a very high-standard,’ Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said.

‘It was also pleasing to see so many young people in the audience having a good time in a fully supervised drug and alcohol free environment.’
