In the last three years, the Unity team has competed in state and national level competitions, winning many titles including the most outstanding dance team award 2011 and 2012.

Dance coach Heather Cargill said the team ” made up of 10 boys and 20 girls ” trained at least three times a week.

‘As well as athletic skills, cheerleading teaches important life skills including teamwork, self-confidence and a love of sport and dance,’ she said.

Cheerleading was officially recognised as a sport last May.
