A YEAR 5 Tapping Primary School student has won a national photography prize for striking happy snaps of her brothers.

Alexi Prosper (10) won the upper primary category in the 2018 ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) Photo Comp.

The competition gave Australian and New Zealand students and adults an opportunity to submit a set of three photos within the theme ‘This Makes Me Happy’.

After being a finalist last year in the upper primary category, Alexi was successful this year with her entry ‘My Brothers’.

“I like photography because it allows me to explore the world,” Alexi said.

“I can experiment when I am editing. I enjoy using photos to express myself in a different way.”

Alexi entered the competition last year as part of her school’s extension and enrichment program.

“It was very clear last year that Alexi had great photography skills,” coordinator Vanessa Fairhead said.

“Combined with her talent for creative thinking she was able to produce unique pictures to fit the theme of the competition.”
