A CAST of 65 students from Tapping Primary School is preparing for the school’s latest musical production, Disney’s Madagascar.
The school will use its undercover performing arts area, funded through Wanneroo MLA Sabine Winton’s 2017 election commitment, to cater for a larger audience this year.
Director Cheryl Peak said the objective of presenting a musical of that size was to provide students with opportunities to develop their social and self-management skills.
Ms Peak said the extension meant more students and parents would be involved in providing entertainment.
“During the rehearsals the students learn to support and encourage one another and the experience enables them to be self-motivated learners with a compassion for others,” she said.
“It also gives teachers, students and parents an opportunity of getting to know and work with one other in a different context.”
Public performances will be on November 9 and 10, with doors opening from 5.30pm for a 7pm start.
There will be a sausage sizzle and a coffee van selling drinks beforehand.
