The City ran a 12-month trial at Spinifex, Kingsbridge, Bellport, Delamare, Hudson and Koondoola parks.

Councillors voted at the March 1 meeting for the free use to continue at all tennis courts in the City except where tennis clubs were established at Gumblossom, Elliott Road and Montrose parks. A City report found increased patronage of the courts during the trial and 80 per cent of respondents to an online survey supported court use remaining free.

Usage was highest at Bellport Park in Mindarie, followed by Butler’s Kingsbridge Park and Koondoola Park.

Cr Domenic Zappa said he had personally seen positive results from the trial at Hudson Park in Girrawheen.
