Senior Sergeant Brad Burnett alleged the Secret Harbour man (28) had illegally contacted the woman in nine recent text messages.
He said the VRO had been in place since September after the pair split in October, 2013.
He said the alleged messages were not threatening, but were still in breach of the order.
‘The fact is he communicated with her,’ he said. ‘A VRO is a very strict court order that must be adhered to.’

The man was charged with nine counts of breaching a violence restraining order.
He is expected to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on July 7.
