ALMOST 30 fire crews were needed to put out a bushfire in Banksia Grove which threatened homes on Saturday.

Three water bombers and more than 20 trucks attended the blaze, which was reported about 3.50pm near Mornington Drive and Nambi Parkway in Mariginiup.

The fire burned through 16ha of land but there was no damage to homes despite the threat.

Fire crews had the blaze under control just after 6pm and were still tending to hot spots on Tuesday.
