Tight vote defers savings details

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

Cr Dot Newton moved a procedural motion at Tuesday’s council meeting to defer the report put forward by Cr Brett Treby.

The report recommended City staff undertake an efficiency dividend program focused on identifying 2.5 per cent savings in the operating budget.

Cr Newton asked that the report be deferred for more information because she had ‘major concerns about two budgets going to be brought down by state and federal governments’.

Cr Treby told the Times he was disappointed he was not able to discuss how the motion would deliver savings to local ratepayers.
