Tilly Schmidt has collected bag loads of food and other goodies for the Dogs’ Refuge Home.

With help from her classmates at St Stephens Primary School in Carramar and the Gumtree Guides unit in Connolly, the six-year-old and her mother Louise collected bedding, old towels, sheets and blankets, 40kg of food, toys, leads, collars and more than 30 new dog bowls.

This is the second time Tilly has helped dogs in need after she organised a blanket drive for the RSPCA last year.

‘This year she wanted to do it again, and wanted to feed the animals as well as help them stay warm over winter,’ Mrs Schmidt said.

‘We looked at a few rescue organisations and she chose the Dogs’ Refuge Home.

‘Tilly saw everything laid out and referred to it as the ‘best collection ever’.’

Tilly made her own fliers for the school and guides unit and decorated the collection boxes.
